Finally the cooler weather is here! I am so excited that I can wear fuzzy pants and get bundled up under all of the blankets I collect throughout the year. Now I'll only get a few days of this so I've got to make the most of them ;)

I'll tell you what I am tired of, these teen starlets telling the world how hectic their life is and how tired they are. Whatever. I'd like to see them scrape money from their savings account that they just started up again in order to pay their phone bill. Or to have them wait until the last possible mail day to send out their bills so that everything can get paid. Overtired my ass. Give them a dose of reality and we'll really see who the superstars are. People like you and me who have to work for a living and get paid in peanuts.

Open mouth, insert foot

When will I learn that if I just keep my mouth shut, I would be so much farther ahead. Having a rough kind of day today but this too shall pass.

A closed mouth gathers no foot.

wild and crazy!

Ok so it is no great feat for me to dye my hair. I've done it for a while now and enjoy having the flexibility to change my look every once and a while. As a friend told me today "If you can't change your life, change your hair. Can't lose 40 pounds? Change your hair!" and I have to say I am a subscriber to that philosophy. In the past I've toyed with hues in the red and brunette color spectrums with great success. I admit there was a summer that I streaked blonde but that was the one and only time that will ever happen. It was kinda scary. Then again I didn't choose to do that and history has proven that when I choose colors they work marvelously, when other people choose colors for me the results are less than gleaming. So I am sure I have kept you guys in suspense long enough. You just have to know what color I dyed my hair this time. Don't worry, I am going to tell you but I have a bit more background to cover. In the past, everytime I have altered my appearance the only one to really have taken notice is the bf. Nine times out of ten, he's at the house at the same time I perform my miraculous revamping. I'll give him credit for noticing but a lot of it has to do with his being at the right place at the right time, lol. Today's color is so dramatic that my plan was to go into work as if nothing was different. Well out of the ten or so people that I have seen today, two of them have noticed and commented. I really am surprised because I went from a fall spicy red to an anime blue black. Surely there are more people to notice. Ah but that just proves my theory that most people don't pay attention to their surroundings and take oh so many things for granted. There it is guys. Blue black from Garnier. I really love the color. It is totally dramatic from what I am used to and I think it looks great. When I did it last night I wasn't so hip with it but now that I have seen it in the light of day, I am totally loving it! We'll see how it goes. A brand new experience and I am ready for the change :)

Thought of the Morning

“Believe nothing.
No matter where you read it,
Or who said it, Even if I have said it,
Unless it agrees with your own reason
And your own common sense.”

the snowball effect

I don't necessarily adhere to when it rains it pours, I feel I am closer to the snowball effect. Something so small that just builds and builds and builds until my mental clarity is about as see through as a pail of white paint.

Currently we're experiencing heavy snowfall with a chance of sleet later on today. Stay tuned for the latest ;)

And the hits just keep coming

It has been severely hectic around here and I've been a bit of a nutcase myself. Looking back on it, I think I know why - no posting. So for the few dedicated who actually read this let me go back and review what's going on.

1. Work is totally chaotic. We've got a new organizational structure being imposed upon us which entails new job titles, new office locations and in my case a new boss. The office move wasn't too traumatic but getting used to the new boss and new responsibilities without compensation is hard to stomach. Almost as difficult as realizing that interns my age are getting full fledged offices while I enjoy the open aired modular furniture setting. Better yet, they get treated with greater respect and are paid better than me. Guess that is what I get for working for the man. Not to mention that when I do inquire about a raise, I am given the run around about talking to personnel to see what could be done. What's the big deal people? I asked my former boss, I asked my current boss and there is a good policy of not going over people's heads so I am certainly not going to jump rank. I just don't know.

2. Grad School application. Whew, this is a big one. I took the GRE and got that off the list. The fill in your name part has been done for a while. Now I am waiting on recommendation letters and me to feel comfortable about my personal statement. I am close, I can feel it. In the meantime I look at it over and over and have countless people read it to make sure I am on the right track. They've been so helpful but still I don't feel it is done and that is the most important thing to me. Once I get that out of the way I am going to have to track down the pivotal advisor for the recommendation that I am relying on most. I've sent out the email and I think I am going to have to go back to campus to get things straightened out. That is definitely something I am not looking forward to. Traffic is crazy enough as it is. We'll see when the time comes.

3. Time with the bf. We're on completely opposite schedules. Have been for as long as I can remember. It was fine in the beginning because I had the second job that overlapped with his schedule. Then for a little while I said it would be ok because we weren't going to have to live with the situation forever. Now it just seems that after a great weekend, the oppositeness really hits me. Sure, we can attribute some of this to the natural cycle of hormones but as I look toward the future, I know that this will only get harder. It is a proven fact that I worry too much and I am going to send this latest spaz into that category.

4. The holidays. Yeah, there is that too. How do we spend enough time with both families and not forget about ourselves? Who gets which holiday? Do we travel to them, do they travel to us? And the questions go on and on. I dunno. I am just going to let it all happen and deal with it as it comes along. I mean really, what else is there to do?

Ok so it is November 2 and I am still working on this personal statement thing. At least it is done and it is being reviewed!!

Nothing too exciting to report right now. Too much focus on the statement. Will update with lots of stuff soon!

Well there is one thing. Evidently some enthusiastic dubbya supporter decided to plaster a shirt sticker on the bf's car to encourage us to vote for their candidate. Little did they know that all it did was piss us both off and curse their name. Besides, the bf has had his vote in for almost a month. He did it via absentee ballot. Just another source of proof that people subscribe to their affiliations as if their lives depended on it.
